Der Frontmann der britischen Heavy-Metal-Band Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister, ist tot, er starb im Alter von 70 Jahren an Krebs. Das teilte die Gruppe in der Nacht auf Dienstag auf ihrer Facebook-Seite mit. Der Musiker habe von der Erkrankung erst am 26. Dezember erfahren - zwei Tage nach seinem 70. Geburtstag. Es habe sich um einen "äußerst aggressiven Krebs" gehandelt.

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.

War aber doch absehbar.Erst die Tage ein Bild von ihm gesehen, sah ganz schlecht aus.
Gut dass ich beim letzten RiP zum ersten und letzten Mal noch ein paar Songs mit ihm hören durfte.

Rest in Peace, Lemmy,
und zeig denen oben dein Ace of Spades!

Überraschend ist es wirklich nicht. Ich denke so ein "schneller Abgang" wäre ihm auch lieber gewesen als monatelang im Krankenhaus zu liegen. Vor zwei Wochen stand er noch auf der Bühne.

Wenn er an Alkoholkonsum gestorben wäre fände ich es nicht verwunderlich, dass er aber dem Krebs erliegt ist für schon überraschend...

An Heilig Abend wurden die Jungs noch fürs Summerbreeze 2016 bestätigt... oh man...

Die werden im Himmel jetzt Ohrenstöpsel und einiges an Whiskey brauchen.

Die Welt verliert wieder einen großartigen Musiker, ich bin froh dass ich ihn immerhin einmal live erleben durfte.

Hab ihn leider auch nie richtig live gesehen(! Beim Park mal von ganz weit hinten rein geguckt. Hatte es erst neulich mim Kumpel drüber, ob wir mal auf ein Konzert gehen. War ja erst vor kurzem noch in Ludwigsburg. Verdammt! RIP Lemmy! Ich hebe mein Glas auf dich.

Habe ihn mal im Park gesehen, war glaube ich 2012. Er hat kaum sprechen können und hat jeden Song rausgeqäult. Trotzdem war es für mich ein Erlebnis, diese Legende einmal live zu sehen.

SATURDAY JANUARY 9th THE WORLD CELEBRATES LEMMY

On SATURDAY JANUARY 9th, the world will come together and celebrate the life of our friend, and legend, Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister.

Family and close friends will observe a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Hollywood, commencing at 3pm PST and ending at 4.30pm. With such limited space available on-site, we respectfully ask that you don’t attend the cemetery… but we want you ALL to be a part of this, so we are setting up a live feed of the service via the internet on Motörhead’s official You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbPCDm ... dA8abZtWpA

So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch the service with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. GO to your favorite bar, or your favorite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us.
Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home.

Whatever your venue, and however you can, let’s be sure to gather globally on Saturday 9th and celebrate the life of our dear friend and irreplaceable icon.
